Join us on Wednesday 26 October for a half day or a full day exploring the grounds at Armadale Castle with naturalist, conservationist and environmental educator Dan Puplett.
The morning session will focus on foraging, botany and wild food whilst the afternoon session will look at wildlife within the grounds as well as tracking skills.
The sessions will allow you to hone your observation and detective skills, build knowledge of wildlife and place and most importantly have fun!
The gardens are home to an array of special creatures from heron, pine marten and hedgehog to bats, deer and otter and of course a plethora of plants.
Each session is 3-hours and costs £30, or sign up for the full day at £50 – excellent value!
Maximum group size is 16 people, so early booking is advised.

Can we restore rivers to benefit wildlife and reduce flood risk? We have just restored a section of the Peffery which hope will do exactly this.
Come and hear a short talk about this exciting river re-meandering project and share in plans for the future of the River Peffery.
We’ll also be screening the highly acclaimed ‘Riverwoods‘ film which inspires action for rivers and wild salmon throughout Scotland.
There will be a question and answer session after the film screening . The event will finish by 9pm.
General admission £6.50 Student / low wage free

Any profits will go towards further restoration work in the Peffery catchment.

If you're looking for support in taking action, come to one of our MP/MSP engagement group sessions. Each session focuses on a particular topic and provides a space to share information and tactics that can help in making your correspondence targeted and effective.
The topic for this session will be land reform and sustainable land use. We will be tying in with the current consultation on the next Land Reform Bill, which can be found here . Even if you have no experience of engaging with your elected representatives, come along to share ideas and knowledge, and be part of a collective campaign.
Topics for discussion
-how to use the land for the benefit of society not just those who own it (eg sustainable agriculture, management of sporting estates such as deer & grouse);
-how we define sustainable land use;
-how we support communities in becoming involved with / connected to the land, both from a practical perspective (community right to buy) and from the perspective of engagement (getting people involved in community gardening, or even just understanding that their garden or window box can be part of sustainable land use).
-who has the right / means to buy - so some of the measures being proposed in the Bill are making large land sales be subject to a public interest test.
